Frequently asked questions

What is PMR?

PMR stands for Prey Model Raw—it's a way of feeding your dog that mimics what their wild ancestors would eat. That means 80% meat, 10% raw edible bone, and 10% secreting organ—no veggies, no fillers, no nonsense.

Why No Fruits or Vegetables?

Dogs are built to eat animals, not salads. Their bodies aren’t designed to break down plant matter, and veggies often come out looking the same as they went in. Plus, things like fruit and starches can feed yeast and cause digestive stress.

Whole prey doesn’t come with broccoli or apples inside—and neither do our grinds. Just clean, balanced, species-appropriate nutrition.

New to Raw Feeding?

We get it—it can feel like a lot at first. That’s why we make it easy with pre-made PMR grinds that take out the guesswork. Just thaw and serve.

How do I transition my pet to PMR?

Because we do not recommend mixing raw with kibble the best way to transition your pet to raw is to do a 24 hour fast. After 24 hours feed a small amount of the recommended feeding amount and increase slowly. Introduce new proteins one at a time to watch for sensitivities! Visit our blog to read more on why we do not recommend mixing raw with kibble.

Is this a complete and balanced diet?

Yes! Our grinds follow the 80/10/10 Prey Model Raw ratio—80% meat, 10% edible bone, and 10% secreting organ—mimicking the natural balance found in whole prey. That means no need for extra supplements or guesswork. Every pet is different so if your dog or cat requires additional vitamins or minerals ensure you provide those either through supplements, prescribed medications or chews and treats. A truly balanced raw diet requires balance over time which means variety and rotating proteins.

Can I feed PMR to both dogs and cats?

Absolutely. Dogs and cats are both carnivores and thrive on raw, animal-based diets. Our grinds are suitable for both species, but keep in mind that cats often prefer smaller portions and may need time to adjust to new textures. Cats also should be fed fish based recipes less frequently.
